Southern Cal Transport partners with Owner Operators and Fleet Owners for our Intermodal division, which is rapidly growing with great, consistent freight opportunities. Intermodal drivers operate from the following areas:
- Atlanta, GA
- Montgomery, AL
- Savannah, GA
- Memphis, TN
- Mobile, AL
Intermodal driving picks up intermodal containers at rail or ship yard, deliver to points within a 250-mile radius, pick up return load.
Occasionally, Company drivers are hired for our Intermodal division; contact a Southern Cal recruiter for details.
Compensation: 77% of load revenue, plus fuel surcharge
Fuel Surcharge: 100% of our generous fuel surcharge is passed on to the tractor owner.
Escrow Account: $500 Lease/Maintenance escrow, deducted at $50/week. More may be placed in escrow if wanted
Estimated Miles Per Week: 2,000-2,500
Referral Bonus: $1,000 for team, $500 for company driver or Owner Operator
Fuel: Discounted Fuel at company-contracted locations
Tires: Company national account discount available
Fuel Tax Reporting: Taken care of by Southern Cal with no charge-back
Tag Registration: Owner Operator must provide base plates, and must be apportioned for all states within a 250-mile
distance of the working location. Base plate requirements can change, depending on terminal location.
Home Time: Home every weekend and some weeknights, depending on domicile
Tractor Specs: Must have a current (within 30 days) DOT inspection from an approved repair facility. No age restriction.
Must be compatible with company
trailers and be able to scale minimum of 45,000 lbs
Bobtail and Occupational Accident Insurance: Required and may be purchased through Southern Cal at the Owner
Operator's option. Current charge for bobtail insurance is $30/month; Occupational Accident charge is $168/month
per person.
Physical Damage Coverage: Not available through company and must be purchased separately by truck owner
